CTC Quick Notes –
Jan. 20, 2012
“CTC Quick
Notes” is intended to give the leaders of the Central Texas Conference a
snapshot of key information and tools available in one page or less.
The
last day to enter your churches statistical information (aka “checkouts”) is
next Wednesday, Jan. 25. Please don’t wait until the last minute to login at
ezra.gcfa.org and begin the process so that the CTC Service Center staff might
better assist you with any questions or technical trouble you may have along
the way. For your convenience, a step-by-step guide on how to enter your
checkout information via the new Ezra tool is available here. If you need more
details or contact information, see the Church “Checkout” tab of the Finance section
at ctcumc.org.
TELL
training is coming to the Central Texas Conference Feb. 11. A vital component in
our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the
world is the sharing of our faith with others. For some, this is as easy as
breathing. But for many, the sharing of their faith is not a natural act and
can even become a barrier to spiritual growth. The TELL training is based on
Bob Pierson’s book “Time to Tell” and is designed to help develop skills for
sharing one’s faith with others. Even if you feel that you already regularly
and effectively share your faith, there will be something for you to learn and
enjoy. The deadline to register is Feb. 3. You can download a
registration form here.
One
Great Hour of Sharing is just a few weeks away on March 18. The offering given
during One Great Hour of Sharing supports the United Methodist Committee on
Relief (UMCOR) so that it may respond immediately and effectively to
emergencies here at home and around the world. Because One Great Hour of
Sharing covers UMCOR’s administrative costs, 100 percent of gifts designated
for specific projects go to support those programs. Watch ctcumc.org for more
on One Great Hour of Sharing and visit umcom.org to order your free offering
resources.
Congregational
Care training available with the Church of the Resurrection. Several years ago,
the Church of the Resurrection (CoR) developed a program that has
revolutionized the way they provide care for their congregation. By
energizing and equipping volunteers to be Congregational Care Ministers and
employing them to work alongside pastors and staff to care for their
congregation, CoR has been able to provide a consistent and deeper level of
care to their church family. Now CoR is offering a training session for you and
your volunteers to bring this program to your church. To learn more visit the Mission Support section of ctcumc.org.
The churches of the Central Texas Conference paid 100 percent of our Connectional Mission Giving (CMG) commitment to the General Church in 2011. The churches of the CTC gave $10.6 million towards our CMG (aka: apportionment) goal in 2011. This generous giving combined with the deep budget savings realized by the changes occurring via the Exodus Project allowed us to meet our 2011 requirements. Read more, including a link to a 2010-2011 payout comparison and other extravagantly generous giving throughout the year, here.
